Friendly but fiercely played U11s match

A local derby between two Chalfont U11s teams turned into an exciting and high scoring match on Sunday 16 October, despite heavy rain at the start.

Chalfont Wasps led by their captain, Oliver, eventually won the hard fought match by 7 goals to 3 against Chalfont Saints.  The young players of both teams played extremely well despite the early weather conditions and by the second half the sun had come out.

“Our hard work and great team spirit gave us an edge over Saints,” said Kevin O’Neill, team manager for the Wasps. “It allowed us to play the fluid, counter-attacking football style that we like to play.”

Reece was awarded man of the match but starring roles were widespread with four goal scorers for the seven goals from The Wasps. The team’s two goalkeepers who took part during the 60 minutes each played an essential role in helping the team to secure victory.
