Buying your next home might be easier than you think

Charlotte Backshall grew up in Midhurst and had often walked past the new development on the corner of Lamberts Lane with her dog. She and her partner, Seonaid McGregor, were intrigued to see what the homes would be like so as soon as the show home opened, they visited on the launch day.

“We saw the show home, the marketing suite and then what was to become ‘our house’ which wasn’t quite finished at the time,” recalls Seonaid. “It just ticked all the boxes and having two parking spaces so close to the centre of Midhurst was a real bonus.”

The couple were saving up their deposit and weren’t intending to buy for another year so after visiting Wells Mews, they strolled through the private footpath to the High Street for a a coffee at Costa and time to consider. Shortly afterwards, they walked straight back to put their deposit down on their first home together.

“We’d already done our sums so we knew what we could afford and we took up the offer of Help to Buy which was a real plus. The mortgage adviser did all the paperwork for us and although there were some long forms to complete and after some back & forth, everything went through and we moved in at the start of January as soon as the house was complete.”

Wells Mews is a select development of just 17 homes in Lamberts Lane which has already attracting considerable interest with more than half the homes already reserved since the show house opened. Prices for the three bedroom houses, which have been thoughtfully planned over three floors, start from £460,000 and the government backed scheme, Help to Buy, is also available.

“It’s so nice to have the patio doors open onto the garden already this year with the sunny weather,” added Seonaid. “We’re really looking forward to our first summer in our new home.”
