It was a perfect December afternoon when a very special new resident arrived at Abingworth Meadows in Thakeham. Rosie Beatrice Zuanella was born at her family’s new home which her parents, David and Kerry, had moved into just a few weeks earlier with Rosie’s big brother, Ethan, 3.
“We had always planned a home birth,” said Kerry, “and Rosie was born in the master bedroom while my husband was downstairs calling the midwife, so she even beat the midwife here! It all felt really natural, really wonderful. Now we’ll always have good memories of this house, and Rosie will have a special bond!”
Kerry had lived in the area several years ago when she was working in London and escaping back to the countryside each evening. So after living further afield it was to Horsham that David and Kerry returned when she was pregnant with Ethan as a great place to bring up a family.
“Unfortunately we were on quite a busy road so last year we started looking again, this time in the sticks. When we first set eyes on Abingworth Meadows, we just thought, ‘wow’. It’s idyllic. The houses were all set around a cricket pitch and each one had a huge garden, it’s just a children’s paradise. As much as we like a project, we now had a two year old and you can just move in to a brand new home and start living.”
The Zuanellas were so impressed with the layout of ‘The Bloomsbury’ house design that they went straight home and put their house on the market.
“We like the way it’s set out and there’s so much space for the family to enjoy. My favourite space is probably the open plan kitchen/family room. Ethan loves it as there’s lots of room to play with his push-along car, and there are two sets of doors out to the garden. There’s so much space but at the same time it’s not too big so it’s easy to keep clean!”
Abingworth Meadows is a landmark scheme by Oakford Homes in conjunction with Abingworth Developments, where the latest homes are available from £699,950. Some of the detached houses offer views overlooking the new cricket green or the Abingworth Meadows pond. For more information visit the show home and sales suite which is open daily from 10am to 5pm (01798 879140).
Community amenities will also include a village shop, a village hall, Thakeham Pre-School and sports pitches with pavilions and changing facilities, making this an excellent choice for families looking for a countryside new home with a community on the doorstep.
And as Rosie grows, she and Ethan can enjoy all the space her new home has to offer as well as all the joys that a countryside childhood brings.
“Rosie’s doing really well,” said Kerry. “She’s our little ‘Bloomsbury’ baby.”
