Thakeham village to gain new sports facilities within new housing development

A community hub featuring new sports pitches, a village hall, pre-school and local shop will be developed by joint venture partners, Abingworth Homes and Oakford Homes, alongside their latest collection of homes in the village of Thakeham.

Construction of the 38 four and five-bedroomed family homes is already underway at ‘Abingworth Meadows’ just off Dukes Hill.

“The scheme will be our third in West Sussex and has an attractive selection of house styles which have been designed specifically for this rural setting,” said Chris Coates, managing director of Oakford Homes.

“With the range of new amenities, ‘Abingworth Meadows’ will also help to create a new village focal point with something for all ages in the community and an emphasis on outdoor sport which is particularly relevant in this Olympic year.”

Within the scheme, ‘Abingworth Meadows’ will incorporate a new village hall, a pre-school facility, two football pitches, a cricket with sports pavilion, and a new local shop.

In addition to the 38 detached family houses, there will be 20 two and three bedroom homes for shared equity, to be offered to buyers with local connections, initially to those who work at the recently-upgraded local mushroom factory which employs some 450 people.

Overall ‘Abingworth Meadows’  first completions are anticipated later this year. All enquiries for the new homes should be directed to Oakford Homes.
